MapleStory Worlds Platform Operation Policy
1. Basic Operation Policy
[1-1] MapleStory Worlds is a platform serviced by Toben Studio Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") and is operated in accordance with this policy. Our goal is to ensure smooth service while protecting both creators and users (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Customers"). This Operation Policy is designed to help address issues that may arise while using MapleStory Worlds, quickly and consistently.
[1-2] This operation policy outlines the Company’s approach to platform management. The operation and management of Worlds and their content (hereinafter referred to as "World" or "Worlds") are the responsibilities of their respective creators. As a general rule, the Company does not intervene in the operation of individual Worlds.
[1-3] The Company may update the Operation Policy to minimize inconvenience to Customers and provide stable service. If the Operation Policy is changed substantially, the Company may notify Customers through the official community site (forum, Discord, etc.). Customers may need to check such notices and familiarize themselves with the changes to avoid any damage or inconvenience. The Company cannot provide assistance for any damage or inconvenience caused by the Customer’s unawareness of, or misunderstanding of, the policy.
[1-4] Matters not mentioned in this Operation Policy shall be handled based on the “Creator’s Operation Policy,” “MapleStory Worlds Creator Terms of Use,” “MapleStory Worlds Terms of Service and End Customer License Agreement,” “Privacy Policy,” other applicable laws and regulations, and general common sense and sentiments shared by members of society.
2. Customer’s Rights and Obligations
[2-1] Customer’s Rights
[2-1-1] Customers may access and enjoy the various content and services provided on the MapleStory Worlds platform.
[2-1-2] If a Customer experiences any damage while using the platform or a World, they may submit inquiries and request assistance through the designated support channel.
[2-1-3] In cases of damage caused by the platform administrator, Customers may contact Player Support to request improvements. If the damage is caused by a World creator rather than the platform, the Customer must contact the World’s creator and request improvements through the relevant community operated by that creator.
[2-1-4] Customers who wish to contest a restriction on their use of the service should contact Player Support.
[2-2] Customer’s Obligations
[2-2-1] Customers must provide accurate personal information when registering for membership and using the service. The Company will not provide assistance for damages caused by using someone else’s personal information or submitting false information, and the Customer will be held responsible for any such misuse.
[2-2-2] Customers are responsible for the accounts they use, and must take reasonable measures to protect their personal information, except if damages to accounts or personal information are caused by the Company.
[2-2-3] Customers should safeguard their accounts against fraud by other users, such as account theft, by regularly updating passwords and keeping their devices secure.
[2-2-4] Customers must not harm other users or disrupt the platform’s order. They should comply with reasonable requests from the Company or World creators. Violations of the “Platform Operation Policy,” or actions contrary to social norms, may result in restrictions on service use under this policy and applicable regulations. Customers are encouraged to use the service respectfully and considerately.
[2-2-5] Customers must report any bugs encountered on the platform, or within a World, through the designated inquiry channels. Failure to do so, or exploiting or spreading the bug to others, may result in restrictions on platform use.
[2-2-6] Customers have access to communities managed by World creators, and should familiarize themselves with these communities and the guidance provided within the World. The Company does not provide separate guidance through official forums, Discord, or other channels regarding the maintenance, bug fixes, or updates for individual Worlds.
3. Information on Using the Platform Services
[3-1] The Company follows the relevant laws, regulations and the personal information processing policy for the protection and use of Customers’ personal information, and does not disseminate, nor unnecessarily ask for, the Customers’ personal information (account, password, etc.).
[3-2] If the Customer has difficulty using the platform due to a bug, and requests help through Player Support, the Company strives to solve the problem.
[3-3] In the event that the Company causes damage to the Customer, the Company will endeavor to resolve the Customer's problem.
[3-4] The Company does not act in the interest of any particular Customer only, but treats all Customers equally.
[3-5] In the event of any abnormal events both inside and outside the platform provided, the Company may temporarily suspend or restrict access to some or all of the services, and endeavor to promptly guide Customers through the announcements on the official community sites (forums, Discord, etc.).
[3-6] In the event of theft or hacking attempts, the Company may, without prior notice, take the necessary measures to protect Customers’ accounts and data within the platform in order to prevent damage to said accounts and data.
[3-7] The Company is committed to not intervening in private disputes.
However, if there is any violation of the operation policy, or if it is determined that the dispute makes it difficult to operate the service normally, necessary measures may be taken after the matter is reviewed.
Such cases may include:
① Adverse impact on the smooth progress of the program, such as the use of unauthorized programs or interference with the use of the platform by other Customers
② Disputes that, while private, cause damages to a significant number of Customers
③ Disputes that disturb the peace or violate the law
④ Disputes that actively harm the order shared by good Customers
[3-8] In addition to the above circumstances, to the extent that a situation interferes with the smooth operation and use of the platform, the Company will do its best to protect the platform environment for its Customers by responding in appropriate accordance with the general order, shared between the Company and the Customers.
[3-9] The Company prohibits content that violates the law or violates the rights of third parties, including intellectual property rights, publicity rights, etc. Nevertheless, if it is confirmed that a particular World has violated a Customer’s rights, the Customer may submit the relevant information to Player Support by following the instructions at https://support-maplestoryworlds.nexon.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. If it is determined that the reported content infringes on the Customer’s rights, the Company may take certain measures, such as restricting the use of said content or removing it entirely.
4. Restrictions on the Use of the Platform
[4-1] Cautions during the Use of the Platform
[4-1-1] In the event that the Customer is confirmed to have used an account, content, or service that violates the warning instructions of the platform operation policy, the Company may send out warning messages to the creator that created the account and/or content violating this policy. However, according to the criteria, the restriction on a Customer’s account can be applied without warning. The act and degree of violations are specified in Article 4.2. If a Customer violates the standards set forth in this policy, the Customer may be restricted from using the service, and the Company may notify the Customer in advance when taking measures to restrict use. However, if there is an urgent need to take action due to the disruption of the smooth operation of the platform or the destruction of the platform environment, the Company may notify the Customer after the fact.
[4-1-2]
[4-1-3] To provide a pleasant platform environment, the Company provides a function to report inappropriate posts/comments/content. In the case of comments, if they are reported more than a certain number of times, the comments may be deleted.
[4-1-4] Even if a Customer has not directly violated the policy, to the extent that he or she is found to be involved in the act, the Company may impose the same restrictions on that Customer as it does on the account that directly violated the policy.
[4-1-5] If repeated violations of the operation policy are identified in the same system information (IP, PC, etc.), an account accessed from the same system information may also be considered from the same person, and the service use may be restricted.
[4-1-6] If the Customer cancels and re-signs up for an account that has been sanctioned for violating the operation policy, the Customer may be subject to the restriction on using the account for the remainder of the sanctioned period of the account that the Customer withdrew from if it is determined that the Customer is the same person.
[4-1-7] [Reserved.]
[4-1-8] The restrictions rules for each World, not the platform, may vary depending on the rules specified by the creator. The Customer may need to check the use instruction of each World, and in the event of restrictions on use within World, the Customer should individually contact the creator of World. In principle, the Company does not intervene in the operation of each World, but it is difficult to provide assistance for damage caused by the use of the restricted World for reasons such as violation of the operation policy. (However, restrictions on World chat are excluded.)
[4-1-9] Problems arising from the Original World within MapleStory Worlds will be managed in accordance with the operation policy for the Original World. However, if the consequences affect the platform as well as the Original World, this operation policy may also be applied.
[4-1-10] If the account owner sends a related inquiry, the Company will closely check the contents and inform the owner.
[Note] Details for different types of restrictions the Company may enact:
[4-2] Name/Image/Video and Chat Policy Violations
[4-2-1] If a policy violation is identified, the relevant name/image/video may be arbitrarily changed, or chat function may be restricted.
[4-2-2] If a profile name is changed (including an arbitrary change of the profile name), then it may be changed once more. There is a 14-day waiting period between those two name changes.
[4-2-3] [Reserved.]
[4-2-4] Specific violations are outlined below. Note that other actions, if deemed socially unacceptable or sufficiently unusual, may be flagged in violation of policy as well.
[4-3] Interference with Platform Operation
[4-3-1] The Company may promptly respond to any conduct that interferes with the smooth operation of the platform, in accordance with the general order and norms shared by the Company, and take appropriate measures to protect other Customers.
[4-3-2] Other than the violations stated below, the User may also be restricted for interfering with the normal operation of the platform.
[4-4] Platform Environment Destruction
[4-4-1] If abnormal use occurs repeatedly, from the same device (based on IP, PC, etc.), and adversely affects the platform environment, that device may be temporarily restricted until the reason for the abnormal use is resolved.
[4-4-2] In the event that further measures are required, such as in cases of significant damage or disruption to the platform in violation of the operation policy, the Company may take legal action against the party or individual responsible.
[4-4-3] In the event of a suspicious exchange of goods, items, or accounts in an unlawful or fraudulent manner, including any violations of the operation policy, the relevant account may be temporarily restricted from using the platform, and measures related to the use of goods and items may be taken. The level of sanctions may vary depending on the possibility of 100% recovery of unfair profits.
[4-4-4] Even if it is not specified below, if the use history or behavior affecting the platform environment is confirmed, the use of the service can be restricted.
[4-5] Interference with the Use of the Platform
[4-5-1] Customers should not interfere with others’ use of the platform. We hope that all Customers will use the service with respect and consideration for other Customers.
[4-5-2] Even if it is not specified below, in the event that a Customer interferes with the normal use of other Customers, he or she may be restricted from use as a violation of this policy.
[4-6] Improper Transactions and Payment behaviors
[4-6-1] The Company does not allow transactions and payments in a manner not supported by the platform system or open market store.
[4-6-2] If a Customer uses multiple accounts to collect goods and items of the platform for the purpose of profit, his or her use of the platform may be temporarily restricted.
[4-6-3] If the Company witnesses and confirms the acquisition of unfair profits by the violation of the Platform Operation Policy, the Company may retrieve the unfair profits (paid/free goods, items, etc.) obtained by the Customer, and the use of some functions in the platform, such as the use of goods, withdrawals, use of products, etc., may be restricted during the investigation or explanation process.
[4-6-4] Abuse of the Company's processes, or use of the assets or content from the platform, including any platform store or market, for commercial purposes outside the platform may result in legal action.
[4-6-5] [Reserved.]
[4-7] Acts that Lead to the Restrictions of Use related to CGCs (Creator-Generated Content)
[4-7-1] A creator should not include, in the creation of CGC such as World and items (World products, avatar products, badges, etc.), content with the attributes identified in the chart below at the end of this section, 4-7.
[4-7-2] If the Company detects any of the following violations, it may issue a warning to the Creator and request maintenance and/or correction of the content. Once the requested updates are completed and the Company determines that the content is suitable for re-publication and continued release, the restriction may be lifted. However, if appropriate corrective action is not taken after the warning, the Company may suspend the Creator’s content publication without prior notice.
[4-7-3] A Customer may be restricted from using the service if he or she repeatedly uses CGCs (such as Worlds and items) that include the prohibited activities below, or if the user directly or indirectly supports, promotes, encourages, assists, etc. such behaviors.
[4-7-4] The Company will not provide any assistance for any damage sustained by creating or using CGCs (such as Worlds and items) that include the prohibited activities, unless under specific circumstances outlined by the Company. (e.g., used goods not refundable, alternative items not available, and so on).
[4-7-5] Profits made by violating the prohibited activities policy may be recovered, and the use of some functions on the platform, such as the use of goods, withdrawals, use of products, etc., may be restricted during the recovery process.
[4-7-6] Even if the user's items (World products, avatar products, badges, etc.) are restricted or arbitrarily changed, the items will not be deleted from the retention list.
[4-7-7] Further details on creator-related policies can be found in the “Creator Operation Policy.”
※ Other content that includes actions with abnormal or unusual intentions, according to social norms, may also be considered a violation.
5. Recovery Policy
[5-1] Recovery Policy on the Platform
[5-1-1] If a Customer loses his or her account, items or content, etc. while using the platform, the Customer must report the loss to the Company, through Player Support, within 7 days from the date of the problem. In principle, it is difficult to assist if that period of time passes.
[5-1-2] Inquiries must be directly submitted by the account in question. Even if the inquiry comes from the Customer or Customer’s family, relatives, or acquaintances, the Company will not accept inquiries for other accounts by proxy.
[5-1-3] Damage in circumstances other than technical errors (as in damage resulting from the negligence or intention of the Customer) is effectively irreparable. If the account information is not verified, the Company will not be able to provide assistance for the recovery of such damage. Likewise, the Company cannot provide assistance under any of the following circumstances:
① Damage caused by problems resulting from the Customer's own environment, or by a network environment where there is no willful or gross negligence of the Company (bounces, stutters, etc.)
② Damage caused by failure to understand the contents of the operation policies, announcements on the official community (forum, Discord, etc.), announcements on the platform, etc.
③ In the event that there is a problem with the account/World/contents due to the Customer's negligence or neglect of management
④ In the event that negligence from the service provider may be the cause, but the Customer cannot provide objective information about their account
[5-1-4] Although the Company takes appropriate measures to keep the Customer's World safe, there may be situations where a third party may breach security and access the World without authorization by accessing a personal account. Since it is difficult to help with recovery in such circumstances, each Customer should be vigilant in their own security.
[5-2] Recovery Policy in World
[5-2-1] The creator of each World is responsible for any loss that occurs within that World, when the platform itself is not the cause of said loss. If a Customer experiences the loss of an item or some other content within a particular World, the Customer should contact the creator who created that World.

7. Policy for the Protection of Children and Adolescents
Children and adolescents have the right to keep their personal information private, and the Company will do its best to respect and protect children and adolescents’ decisions regarding that information. The following policies are designed to prevent damage to children and adolescents’ personal information on the platform, and to ensure that they are able to correct and delete personal information.
In addition, in order to cultivate a community and platform environment that can be safely used by children and adolescents, the Company will do its best to protect children and adolescents wherever and however possible. The Company will deal strictly with acts that may endanger children and adolescents, such as exposing children and adolescents to harmful content or sexually objectifying them.
[7-1] Children and adolescents are subject to the standards of the Privacy Policy for Younger Players.
[7-2] Personal information includes information that can, by itself, identify an individual, as well as information that can be combined with other information to identify an individual. Children and adolescents should take caution not to expose their personal information, such as their mobile phone number, address, name, social media information, or photos.
[7-3] Personal Information Protection Policy for Children and Adolescents
[7-3-1] Children and adolescents may request deletion of personal information, such as mobile phone numbers, addresses, names, images, videos, etc., whether such information was registered by them or by a third party.
[7-3-2] Data that corresponds to personal information, such as mobile phone numbers, addresses, names, images, videos, etc. of children and adolescents may be deleted or hidden without notice at the request of the person concerned, or by a third party.
[7-3-3] If a Customer obtains or attempts to obtain the personal information of children and adolescents, his or her use of the service may be restricted.
[7-3-4] In the event of the theft and dissemination of a child or adolescent’s personal information, the account responsible may be immediately restricted upon detection. Depending on the results of the ensuing investigation, actions such as permanent restrictions on the use of an account, and referral to the investigating agency, may be taken as well.
[7-4] Human Rights Protection Policy for Children and Adolescents
[7-4-1] If a Customer engages in obscene or unethical behavior toward children and adolescents, and/or abusive or demeaning words/deeds, his or her use of the service may be restricted.
[7-4-2] If a Customer is caught attempting to establish an emotional relationship with a child or an adolescent within the service for the purpose of sexual contact, or attempting or arranging a meeting outside the service for a child or adolescent, the Customer may be immediately restricted from access. Depending on the results of the ensuing investigation, actions such as permanent restrictions on the use of an account, and referral to an investigative agency, may be taken as well.
[7-4-3] If a child or an adolescent is caught engaging in lewd sexual activity that directly mentions sexual content, or implies or mentions sexual content that causes them to feel sexual shame, access may be immediately restricted. Depending on the results of the ensuing investigation actions such as permanent restrictions on the use of an account and/or referral to an investigative agency may be taken as well.
8. [Reserved.]
9. The Company’s Rights and Obligations
[9-1] The Company may take measures such as restricting the use of the platform against a Customer who violates the Platform Operation Policy.
[9-2] The Company will not provide the Customer with assistance for any problems that may arise if the Customer shares his or her account with others or transfers/sells it in an unusual way (fraud, account theft damages, etc.).
[9-3] The Company may restrict the use of real money/in-kind transactions such as accounts, goods, items, etc. without warning if the Customer attempts to make such real money/in-kind transactions.
[9-4] Fraud is most often caused by personal negligence. The Company is not responsible for any damage or consequences that arise from such negligence, as it is difficult to help the client with the damage caused by such fraud.
10. Guide to Using Social Functions
[10-1] The Customer can take advantage of social functions such as chat, comments, etc. within the platform and World.
[10-2] The Customer should not ask for or disseminate other Customers' personal information (accounts, passwords, etc.) through chat, etc.
[10-3] If the Customer includes content that violates the social policy of Article 4.2, his or her use of social functions may be restricted.
