The First Descendant
General Restriction Policy
[1-1] NEXON Korea Corporation and its affiliates (the “Company”) may restrict a user’s access to the game titled “The First Descendant” (the “Game”) and any related services provided by the Company (collectively, the “Service”) by imposing any of the sanctions described in [2-1] (each, a “usage restriction” or “sanction”) for engaging in conduct that violates the standards set forth in this General Restriction Policy (this “Operating Policy”), in order to maintain a fair and safe gaming environment among users. As a general rule, the Company will provide advance notice before imposing a usage restriction; however, if urgent action is required — such as when normal operations are disrupted or the gaming environment is severely compromised — notice may be given after the restriction has been applied. Examples of such urgent action include, without limitation, exploits actively disrupting the in-game economy or an ongoing security breach requiring immediate containment.
[1-2] The severity of a usage restriction is determined by comprehensively considering factors such as the type of violation, intent, whether it was repeated, and the scale and extent of the resulting harm, and may be applied at a reduced level depending on the circumstances. Such reduction will be based on an objective, good-faith assessment of the factors described above.
[1-3] Even if a user did not directly commit the violation, a usage restriction may still be applied under the same standards as the violating account if a connection to the violation is confirmed. A “connection to the violation” will be determined based on a comprehensive review of relevant evidence, such as account activity, communications, or shared benefit from the violation.
[1-4] If repeated violations of the Operating Policy are confirmed from the same system information (IP address, device, etc.), other accounts that have accessed the Service using that same system information may, following a review of other relevant circumstances (e.g., usage patterns), be regarded as belonging to the same person and may also become subject to a usage restriction.
[1-5] If a user has obtained an unfair benefit through a violation of the Operating Policy, all or part of that benefit may be recovered. If the benefit has already been used and cannot be recovered in kind, additional measures may be taken, such as recovering an equivalent substitute item or resetting the related game data. Any such recovery will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and directly related to the violation; however, this does not limit the forfeiture of content licenses and virtual currency balances upon a permanent ban as provided in the Terms (defined below), subject to the applicable laws and regulations.
[1-6] If an account that has been restricted for violating the Operating Policy is withdrawn and a new account is subsequently created, the remaining sanction period as of the time of withdrawal may carry over and be applied to the newly created account.
[1-7] Content creators (users who produce and post game-related content, such as streamers and YouTubers) are subject to usage restrictions under the same standards as general users, regardless of their status.
[1-8] Producing content — such as videos, broadcasts, or posts — that spreads a violation of the Operating Policy to other users is considered to carry a greater impact and a wider potential scope of harm than simply committing the violation in a private capacity, and this is treated as an aggravating factor that increases the severity of the usage restriction. The same applies to the creation and distribution of content that introduces or promotes methods for using unauthorized programs, exploiting game errors or bugs, or engaging in illegal trading. This aggravating factor applies only where the content is confirmed to be intended, or reasonably likely, to promote or facilitate violations by other users.
[1-9] If a user obtains an unfair benefit by abusing a process provided by the Company or a third-party platform store (e.g., Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store) — such as payment, refund, or withdrawal of subscription — a usage restriction and recovery of the unfair benefit may be carried out; the same applies where a user spreads such abuse methods or causes harm to other users through them. This provision does not limit any statutory refund, withdrawal, or chargeback rights available to users under the applicable laws and regulations.
[1-10] If a violation of the Operating Policy severely damages the gaming environment or the Company determines that additional action is necessary, the Company may pursue civil or criminal legal action against the parties involved.
[1-11] Requests for action based on voice chat may be handled in a limited manner due to the difficulty of verifying its authenticity and identifying the speaker.
[1-12] If a user repeatedly submits the same type of inquiry in a manner that interferes with normal operations, customer support services for that user may be restricted for a reasonable period proportionate to the misuse, following a prior warning, as described in the Terms.
[1-13] A user may request a review of a usage restriction through the channel and procedure specified in the Nexon Terms of Service and End User License Agreement (the “Terms”) (including, for users in the EEA (as defined in the Terms), the internal complaint-handling system described in the DSA Page (as defined in the Terms) referenced in the Terms) or related guidance (e.g., in-game support, help center).
[1-14] Separately from the Company’s measures, platform operators (e.g., Valve, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft) may apply their own restrictions to a user’s platform account under their respective terms. Such platform-level actions are governed by the relevant platform operator’s policies, and any review of them must be requested through that platform operator.
[2-1] Sanction Types
| Type | Definition |
| Warning | Notification of cautions or prohibited conduct through official channels |
| Chat Restriction | Restriction of all chat functions for a specified period |
| Game Access Restriction | Temporary or permanent restriction of access to the Game itself |
| Content Restriction | Game access is maintained, but use of specific content such as trading, the shop, or standard matchmaking is restricted (e.g., placement in a separate matchmaking pool) |
※ All of the above sanctions are applied on a per-account basis and, where an account is linked across multiple platforms (e.g., Steam, PlayStation, Xbox) through cross-progression, may apply to the account on all linked platforms.
[2-2] Principles of Phased Action
| Stage | Action |
| Stage 1 | Warning or short-term usage restriction |
| Stage 2 | Medium-term usage restriction (for repeated violations) |
| Stage 3 | Long-term usage restriction (for further violations following a Stage 2 restriction) |
| Severe Violation | Immediate permanent usage restriction possible without prior warning |
[2-3] The stages above are the general standard; in accordance with [1-2], a stage may be skipped or the sanction may be reduced after considering factors such as the severity, intent, repetition, and spread of the violation. For reference, Stage 1 restrictions are generally imposed for up to 3-7 days, Stage 2 for 15-90 days, and Stage 3 for periods exceeding 90-180 days, subject to adjustment in accordance with [1-2] and this [2-3]. For purposes of this Operating Policy, a “Severe Violation” refers to conduct described in [3-1] (unauthorized programs), [3-2] (real-money trading), [3-6] (information and account theft), or [1-9] (abuse of payment or refund processes) that, having regard to the factors described in [1-2], causes or is likely to cause serious or irreversible harm to the Game, the Company, or other users, or other conduct causing comparably serious or irreversible harm.
The following is a non-exhaustive list of illustrative examples. The Company may also take actions against other conduct that is substantially similar in nature and severity to the violations described below.
[3-1] Creation, Distribution, and Use of Unauthorized Programs
① Creating, distributing, or using programs or hardware — such as hacks, macros (other than features officially provided or expressly permitted by the Company, the relevant platform, or the device manufacturer, such as accessibility features), auto-routing tools, or bots — that cause the Game to operate in a manner not permitted by the Company (collectively, “unauthorized programs”)
② Creating, distributing, or using programs or techniques that store, intercept, or modify Game client data or network packets
③ Bypassing or disabling the Game’s security systems, including anti-cheat software, or attempting to do so
④ Informing other users about unauthorized programs or hardware, or attempting to obtain them from other users
[3-2] Real-Money Trading and Illegal Trading
① Trading, or attempting to trade, in-game currency, items, or accounts for real money or any other thing of value outside the Game
② Commercially trading in-game currency or accounts (e.g., gold farming)
③ Brokering or advertising such trades, or distributing related information
④ Conducting, or attempting to conduct, a cash transaction involving currency or accounts obtained through fraudulent payment or identity theft
[3-3] Fraud and Gambling-Like Acts
① Extorting or obtaining benefit from another user’s in-game currency or items through false information, deception, impersonation, or unfair trading practices
② Directly or indirectly participating in, supporting, promoting, or leading illegal gambling or similar gambling-like activities, such as betting or awarding payouts, using Game content
[3-4] Harassment of Other Users and Inappropriate Conduct
① Using abusive language, hate speech, sexual harassment, or sexually explicit or sexually degrading conduct
② Engaging in conduct that discriminates against, demeans, or defames a specific individual
③ Interfering with another user’s normal use of the Game through stalking, threats, or persistent harassment
④ Causing inconvenience to other users through repeated spamming or other discourteous conduct
[3-5] Impersonation
① Impersonating, or implying that one is, a GM, Company staff member, or a specific individual
② Using impersonation to request another user’s information, in-game currency, or the like
[3-6] Information Theft and Infringement
① Requesting, collecting, or distributing another user’s personal information (name, contact details, photographs, IP address, etc.) or payment information
② Creating an account using another user’s information, or gaining unauthorized access to, or obtaining, another user’s information
③ Hacking or stealing an account, or engaging in related conduct
[3-7] Malicious Exploitation of Game Errors and Bugs
① Knowingly exploiting an error or bug to obtain in-game currency, items, experience points, or the like in a manner inconsistent with the intended design
② Repeatedly using an error to obtain benefit even after the Company has officially announced it as an error (e.g., through official notices or patch notes)
③ Spreading or distributing methods for exploiting an error to other users (see [4] for the assessment criteria)
[3-8] Acts Related to Company Systems and Intellectual Property Rights
① Modifying or tampering with Game client files or resources (e.g., unauthorized mods), other than through features officially provided by the Company
② Reverse engineering, decompiling, or emulating the client or communication protocols, or attempting to do so
③ Providing a matchmaking service without the Company’s approval, or setting up an unauthorized server or connection
④ Removing or altering copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices
[3-9] Advertising and Spam
① Engaging in commercial promotion or advertising, unrelated to the Company, in pursuit of one’s own personal benefit
② Sending unauthorized spam, repetitive flooding messages, or pyramid-scheme messages
③ Repeatedly or in an unsolicited manner advertising for the purpose of directing users to channels outside the Game (social media, broadcasts, external websites, etc.)
[3-10] Abnormal Account Operation and Security Breaches
① Creating accounts in excess of the limits set out in the Terms (e.g., more than one account within twenty-four hours or more than five accounts within thirty days), or using an account beyond its authorized scope of access
② Distributing viruses or malware, or breaching or attempting to breach systems through denial-of-service (DoS) attacks or similar means
③ Engaging in conduct that causes an abnormal or excessive load on the network
Matters relating to game errors or system defects are assessed by comprehensively considering the following criteria.
① Whether the intended, normal path was used, or whether the system defect was directly caused by the user
② Whether the resulting outcome is connected to the paid shop, paid currency (e.g., Caliber), or tradable in-game currency
③ Whether a mechanism that had long been available continued to be exploited even after the Company announced it as an error or applied a patch to correct it
④ Whether the conduct was repeated (one-time occurrence versus continued repetition) and whether it was spread (personal use versus content production and distribution) — in accordance with [1-8], acts of spreading are treated as an aggravating factor
